To be eligible to access Medicare Rebates under the GP Mental Health Care Plan “Better Access” Focused Psychological Strategies (FBS) you will need to make an appointment with your General Practitioner (GP) and discuss your concerns.
AMHSWs are highly skilled and regulated private practitioners who hold Medicare Provider Numbers and are eligible for rebates from Medicare for the provision of clinical mental health services.
Your GP is best placed to assess your concern and the supports needed. If needed your GP will develop with you a mental health care plan and refer you to an appropriate health practitioner.
It is advised that when contacting your local GP practice that you ask for a long appointment with the doctor for a “Mental Health Care Plan”.
